I was a participant in Chido Johnson's Wire Car Cruise - The picture is of me walking with my dream vehicle - a hover craft.
The most memorable part of this aspect was the interest of the people we passed by, as well as those that stopped to ask questions. But the other amazing part of Chido's concept was the series of workshops leading up to the Cruise(s) - people of various backgrounds and artistry levels were able to be part of a powerful art exhibit.
This event not only encompassed visual arts, but also performance and literary arts. I went to my first art opening and also my first reading, learned how to "Jit", watched an amazing performance by Monica Blaire, and enjoyed the Flamenco ritmo of La Chispa. Additionally, I was able to express my pride in my esteemed colleague Sioux Trujillo by supporting her work at MOCAD and N'Namdi Center. Below is a picture of us in front of her MOCAD installation.
